Dragon's Eye Recordings is pleased to release the third installment in its 3" CD-R series, Long Distance. This volume features a collaboration between Yann Novak and Kev Rolfe (Brittle Stars). Recorded during Novak’s stay in Manchester, this installment of Long Distance continues the previous volumes theme of two artists that have never met collaborating in person. Beginning with a rippling mantra-like melody that slowly distorts into a complex and rhythmic play, the single track, “Melody to Maelstrom,” works to maintain the structure of the original melody. The slight hint of rhythm leads to a hypnotic state as the tones become more distorted; and eventually everything bleeds into complete abstraction. The piece comes full-circle in the end, commenting on the transition from simplicity to complexity, and back again.

Dragon's Eye Recordngs is pleased to present the release of Trastevere, a special 5 minute business card CD-R by Yann Novak. This release has been produced as part of Greg Lundgren's newest venture at his bar The Hideout, The Robotic Art Dispenser. The Robotic Art Dispenser will house editioned works by 35 local artists and will be Lundgrend's third experiment in automated art distribution. Trastevere contains the first field recordings that Novak made while he was in Rome in 2006. It offers a unique insight into the foundation of his way of working and is particularly sentimental not only because it was his first, but also because it was the only recording that survived in a harddrive crash.

Long Distance marks the first release by long time collaborators Yann Novak and Eno On (Kne'ke L-R). Recorded 1/16/06 at Kne'ke's own Audio Mosaic Studio in Madison, WI. Novak plays bass and field recordings processed via laptop, while Kne'ke relies on her Akai. This improvised piece stands as a jumping off point for an ongoing long distance collaboration.
