— Acoustic Panels

Repose.Heptaptych, is fabricated on acoustic absorption panels, each panel representing one of the seven fundamental colors that make the Repose. The acoustic properties of the material serve to dampen the ambient sound of there environment, thus altering the space through the subtraction of soundwaves.

— Digital Edition

Repose is part of the Colour Fields collection of works, derived from Yann Novak’s Repose and Scalar Fields projects. The works explores context, atmosphere and time through the use of purely synthesized colours and sounds.

Repose originated as an audiovisual installation which presents a monolithic sound piece comprised of purely synthetic timbres devoid of traditional compositional elements. The sound piece is accompanied by a projected field of light that continually shifts in color, hue, and saturation. Repose is an examination of the inseparability of sound from context, and its effects on our perception of time, space and subjectivity.
