After spending spring and summer photographing swimmers in Lake Washington for hours at a time, this video is an immersive representation of that experience. Diving under the surface for more than a few seconds brought on feelings of disorientation and panic for many of the subjects in the photographs and feelings of euphoria and expansiveness for others. The mirroring induces a state of pareidolia (the tendency to impose meaningful interpretations on random patterns) and invites the viewer to enter a state of hyperreality, much like the subjects of the photographs.
