The Breeze Blowing Over Us was born from an idea to create a composition exploring complex emotional states, using a single source sound that accounts for one of the simplest pleasures. A single recoding of a box fan In Novak’s loft window and all the outdoor noises that came through it, recorded on one of the hottest weekend Seattle had the summer of 2008 was used. This weekend also coincided with the first weekend Novak spent with his partner. The Breeze Blowing Over Us aims to transform this simple recording into a complex composition that explores the overwhelming feelings that come from finding love.
The Breeze Blowing Over Us originated as a stereo performance, but has since been expanded to a 6-channel surround performance. This performance is best suited for a dark environment to facilitate deep listening.
